Welcome on the website of the Telecom Code of Conduct!

This is the website of the fixed Telecom Operators and Service Providers who have committed to respect the Code of Conduct regarding the offering of specific services via telecommunication. When using these services, the enduser pays for the content of the service on top of the communication costs. In Belgium these services are called 'Infokiosk' and are offered through 077 and 090x numbers.

The Code of Conduct Telecom is a self regulation initiative with as purpose to integrate and apply the applicable legislation to the Infokiosk services (irrespective if these are offered through voice messages or through calls to the internet).

Specific obligations and principles have been included and relate to advertisement, indication of the price before the call is made, content and duration of the services offered, rules for services to minors of age, identification requests, etc.

The Code of Conduct Telecom includes a procedure for the treatment of complaints.

Under this procedure endusers of the Infokiosk services can request information directly to the operator who invoices the calls to them. The procedure provides for the transfer of the request to the Service Providers through the operator who granted the Infokiosk number. The operators commit that they will ensure that the requests are analysed and an answer provided to the complainant within a reasonable deadline.
